This Privacy Policy explains what information Be my Examiner ("we", "us", "the Service") collects when you use our website, and how we use, store, and protect it.

Information We Collect

• Account information: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in readable form).
• Academic content: the exam answers you submit, whether typed or uploaded as a photo/PDF, along with the AI-generated marks and feedback for those answers.
• Usage data: your XP, streaks, and submission history, used to track your progress within the Service.
• School association: if you sign up as a student, the school code linking you to your teacher's roster.

How We Use Your Information

• To mark your submitted answers using AI, grounded in CAIE marking conventions.
• To show your teacher your submissions and marks, if you are registered under their school code.
• To track and display your progress (XP, streaks, levels) within the Service.
• To enforce fair usage limits on the Service.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Account data, submissions, and uploaded files are processed through Cloudflare's infrastructure (D1 database and Workers). Submitted answers, including photos/PDFs, are sent to OpenAI's API for AI marking with response storage disabled, subject to OpenAI's API data handling terms.

Who Can See Your Data

• You can see your own submissions, marks, and progress at any time.
• If you are a student, your registered teacher (identified by your shared school code) can see your submissions, marks, and progress.
• We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your account and submission data for as long as your account remains active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email below.

Children's Privacy

This Service is intended for use by school students, some of whom may be under 18. Parents and guardians who have concerns about a minor's use of this Service, or who wish to review or delete their child's data, may contact us using the details below. We do not knowingly collect more information than is necessary to provide the marking and progress-tracking features described above.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Be my Examiner, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use this Service.

2. What This Service Does

Be my Examiner provides AI-generated marking and feedback for CAIE-style exam answers, in two modes:

• Verified mode — marking against real, published CAIE mark schemes we have loaded.
• Practice mode — AI-constructed marking for questions without an official pre-loaded mark scheme, grounded in general CAIE marking conventions.

Marks and feedback generated by this Service, especially in Practice mode, are for study and practice purposes only. They are not official CAIE grades and are not guaranteed to exactly match marks a real CAIE examiner would award.

3. Accounts

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
• Student accounts must be associated with a valid teacher school code.

4. Fair Use & Rate Limits

To keep the Service available and affordable for everyone, we apply daily usage limits based on your account type and plan. These limits may change as the Service develops. Attempting to circumvent these limits (e.g. via multiple accounts) may result in account suspension.

5. Content You Submit

You retain ownership of the answers and files you submit. By submitting content, you grant us permission to process it (including via third-party AI services) solely for the purpose of providing marking and feedback.

6. Prohibited Use

• Do not use the Service to submit content that is abusive, unlawful, or infringes others' rights.
• Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or overload the Service.
• Do not misrepresent AI-generated marks as official CAIE results to any third party.

7. No Warranty

The Service is provided "as is." AI-generated marking, especially in Practice mode, may contain errors. We do not guarantee that marks awarded will match official CAIE examination results, and the Service should not be relied upon as the sole basis for high-stakes academic decisions.

8. Changes to the Service

We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the Service at any time, including these Terms and our pricing/rate limits.
